La marca Saúl E. Mendez nació en Guatemala y lleva el nombre del mismo sastre que inició haciendo trajes de vestir para hombres.
Hoy en día, Saúl E. Mendez es una cadena de tiendas premium en donde la vestimenta para jóvenes y las nuevas tendencias de la moda son los pilares de las mismas.

Como una extensión de marca, existen los cafés Saúl E. Mendez y L’Osteria Pizza. Los cuales han salido adelante como empresas de alimentos.
Es impresionante ver como esta empresa ha sobresalido por su innovación e imagen, su forma de hacer publicidad, la cual es si se dan cuenta, es super original a comparacion de otras empresas Guatemaltecas. Hacen notar que son chapines, incluso en los restaurantes y cafes implementan tela tipica y objetos distintivos de Guatemala para decoracion.

De la creatividad de Saul e mendez, nace tambien MZ, frente a la nueva generación de jóvenes que quieren identificarse con la moda de forma integral.
Es una de las empresas mas innovadoras de Guatemala , por lo mismo estan en el “hall of fame” de marketing en Guatemala ,y a mi criterio, Saul E. Mendez es de las mas originales al mismo tiempo.

Facebook Facebook Facebook. Creo que ya todos los usuarios de “FB” se han dado cuenta, aparte de que se han vuelto famosas las galletas de la fortuna, con mas frecuencia muchos anuncios acerca de empresas a nivel nacional e internacional llegan a nosotros.
Empresas que promueven sus servicios por medio de algo que a simple vista no parece nada mas que una red social que solo jovenes utilizan, cuando en realidad es una de las redes sociales mas grandes a nivel mundial, la cual varía en rango de edades; desde niños ,hasta empresarios haciendo negocios por medio de la misma.

Facebook esta posicionandose como herramienta de publicidad para dar a conocer muchas empresas por medio de la subdivision de mercadeo: “Facebook Ads”.
Innovar la manera de hacer publicidad por medio de internet es la idea principal de esta aplicacion en facebook, ya que no solo llega a cierto sector como lo hace la publicidad fisica que vemos en vallas, mupis,afiches etc. Sino al contrario ;es mas directa y se puede segmentar de una mejor manera.
Se estima que cada “cajita publicitaria” llega por lo menos a 300 personas diariamente.

Lo interesante de este tipo de publicidad es que se puede pagar por clic, cada vez que el usuario da clic en uno de los anuncios, la empresa que puso el anuncio paga por el clic de $0.20 a $0.25. Lo cual le garantiza a la empresa que su anuncio en el “cuadrito” o “widget” esta siendo clickeado y visto.
Me parece una muy buena idea para dar a conocer un producto o servicio nuevo si se tiene un bajo presupuesto para publicidad.

Pepsi`s new image

Minimalist, fresh and trustworthy
“Refresh everything” says new Pepsi marketing campaign bringing a new image to their products and to the whole brand.
Its not about only refreshing their logo or their cans, its about refreshing the world. I visited their site recently and got amazed by the innovation that the new marketing campaign offers. Pepsi as always, oriented to the youth of the world; now introducing the “refresh” phrase, wanting to bring some sort of optimism and “relax” feeling in this moments of crisis in the whole world; they say that their new logo its based on a smile, i don’t find it that way but maybe everybody will.

Pepsi`s new TV ads are totally oriented to their new image. Website now shows the commitment with the youth bringing a new facebook and youtube channel, introducing “refresh” spaces such as refresh music, refresh 2009, refresh mlb, refresh everything and refresh america, to show their optimistic side of all these things that are affecting the world by transmitting “fun” and a sharper image. Also they are promoting the phrase: Every generation refreshes the world, which is promoted in the whole new line of innovating TV ads.

Also promoting the new “pepsi throwback; which is made with natural sugar; with this they intend to give a retro look and to remember past pepsi`s generations.

Past campaigns of Pepsi always have been innovating like “generationext” and “el reto pepsi” as we nknow it here in Guatemala. Pepsi is a nice example of what an innovating and changing image is. Not getting stuck in one image or logo, innovating and making changes, adapting to the market and always showing optimism.

McDonalds actual marketing strategy (Guatemala)
24 04 2009I just saw the press today and noticed a little article about McDonald’s keeping on with a strategy they have called ” Grandes Placeres, Pequeños Precios”, (Big pleasures, low prices) which first offered Big Mac in Q12.oo, and other products such as sodas and burguers in Q7.00 . Now bringing up the second phase that introduces the Texan burger (hamburguesa barbacoa tejana) in Q10.00 and quarter pounder in Q12.00 replacing the big mac, also sausage burrito and small fries in Q7.00 come to replace the previous products.
In my opinion this is a really good strategy although I`ve noticed that Mc`s quality is lower. Taco Bell its doing the same with the Q6.00 and Q10.00 tacos but lets face it; McDonald’s its the top of mind. I also noticed the good public relations McDonald’s has in Guatemala due to the press article, it wasn’t advertising it was an article in the economics section. This week we were discussing in class how McDonald’s adapts to the needs of the customer; that has been their success, this is a pretty good example of how they apply what pure marketing is;
Needs of the customer.
So… Are you “lovin it”?

General Motors in Guatemala

Guatemala, a city in progress that its increasing its number of car dealers and increasing buyers in certain sectors, is now alert due to the notice that GM was going bankrupt ; actually GM cars are not so popular over here, people go more often with japanese cars like toyota or nissan,but you get to see a high number of GM´s most of all chevys and gmc, we don’t get saturn , Saab or Buick although Chevrolet`s spark has been a total hit over here due to its very low gas mileage .
In this city its not so common to see Hummers either; people like to buy more low mileage cars and GM its not that kind of manufacturer. In my point of view; GM its losing the faith that it had on their clients , at least over here buyers are not looking anymore for a GM car, instead they`re going Toyota, Nissan, European cars such as Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW and Audi are increasing, even Indian Cars, when a few years ago they went for s10 pickups, sierras etc. Actually i`ve seen a few new suburbans and Tahoe but that’s it.
GM has to put more interest in the dealership they have here; it has nothing to promote their cars and now its when they have to do it most. In my opinion, GM needs to go global about creating a new image for their buyers; that way they can assure the market in Guatemala. No word on how the U.S. will get back the $90 billion will have lent GM to cover all its mistakes. And all the GM stockholders — who have already lost 98 percent of their investment since Rick Wagoner took over — will see that remaining two percent wiped out.
GM failed because they could never make a profit on small cars. The matter is that GM bet the farm on colossal gas-guzzling vehicles, thinking that gas prices would be cheap forever. When gas prices skyrocketed, which they will do again, GM had sales lots full of SUV’s they couldn’t sell, and that’s the only thing they can make a profit on thanks to their cost structure. GM falled, its a matter of time to see how this giant is gonna get up again.
In meantime question is … Would you buy from a bankrupt company?
